Design

Techniques we use as part of the Design phase of a project include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Generation of CAD models using:
    • Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) for increased accuracy of component details and features.
    • 3D scanning of complex or larger components.
    • Manual measurement (e.g. vernier calliper, micrometer, etc).
  • Creation of a Digital Twin.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Structural / Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation.
  • Design optimisation.
  • Generative design.
  • Rapid prototyping.
  • Design of patterns and moulds for casting components.

A summary of the Design Process we use is shown including the design steps taken in a typical project. It should be noted there are some activities completed aren’t shown in the illustration. Examples include, project definition, scoping and requirements gathering.
